Designer Vlad Murnikov / Origin Fazisi / Goal Fastest monohull

SpeedDream

The quest for the fastest monohull on the planet — run by the man who led the design of Fazisi.

SpeedDream is the brainchild of Vlad Murnikov, a radical sailboat designer born in Russia and now based in the USA. Vlad was the project leader and design coordinator for Fazisi, Russia's first-ever entry in the Whitbread Round the World Race — the premier oceanic sailing competition in the world, now the Volvo Ocean Race.

In the 1989–90 Whitbread, the remarkable Fazisi, with her minimal budget and crew of novice sailors, overcame impossible odds to place eleventh in a field of the world's best yachts — and posted the next-to-longest 24-hour run, racking up the then-incredible 386 miles in a single day.

Every link on the original page is now dead

The 2011 page pointed at three places for more: two Issuu collections and an intersail.co.uk news article. All three now return nothing, and speeddream.org is a parked domain.

That is the argument for this archive in one paragraph. The photograph below survives because it was copied onto this domain in 2011. Everything the page pointed at somewhere else is gone.
