The product design process
1 · Concept generation
The first phase begins with an idea for a new product. A requirements specification is developed to define the functions and performance criteria, and one or more design concept sketches define the visual appearance.
2 · Detail design
A design is developed from the concept model and specification using a 3D CAD program. Models are created for the individual parts and for the subassembly showing how the parts connect. This visual prototyping allows interference checking and range-of-motion studies before any physical parts are manufactured.
3 · Analysis
The design is evaluated analytically to ensure there will be no technological, performance or usage issues.
4 · Prototype
Once the design is complete, prototypes can be built. For fabricated parts, detail drawings are created for manufacturing.
5 · Assemble and test
Component parts are assembled and tested against the performance specification. If changes are required the CAD models are updated and the prototype phase repeats.
6 · Product release
A documentation package is delivered: detail drawings of custom components, and assembly drawings with a bill of materials. For tooled parts, CAD data can be exported in a variety of formats so tooling can be cut directly from the CAD database.
The guarantee
I personally guarantee all our work is on time and faultless, otherwise we shall replace it within 5 working days and only charge you 75% of the original billing fee.
